It’s both their name and what they intend to help you to do! The name ‘LEGO®’ is an abbreviation of the two Danish words “leg godt” meaning play well. The LEGO® Group was founded in Denmark in 1932 and the company has come a long way in almost 90 years – from a small carpenter’s workshop to one of the world’s most popular toy brands. The thoughts within this review are that of BricksFanz and do not reflect those of the LEGO Group. This set was provided by the LEGO Group for purposes of review. Alas, this is a great start and a fun build, one which will certainly appeal to younger builders who have a keen interest in nature, the ocean and of course fish. A Creator Expert or 18+ Fish Tank on a much larger scale with more fish, creatures and detail would be epic. The Fish Tank is a neat little set and something not really seen before, I just wish it was bigger. Although I do like the look of the treasure chest build. As I have mentioned in the review of the Crocodile, due to having multiple sets to review I have only focused on the ‘hero’. Incidentally, the alternate builds allow you to create a Treasure Chest or Painting Easel, both of which can be seen below. The is a cool addition and looks like a couple of past LEGO City sets, but it does feel a little out of place, possibly a tiny treasure chest or clamshell would have been a better choice. The designer has slipped in a clear nod to Finding Nemo, with both a Clownfish and Blue Tang fish. A special mention must go to the choice of fish included in the tank. I particularly like the coral and plants as they use interesting elements in unusual colours to capture their organic originality. Each of the builds is simple but very different resulting in a visually pleasing array of colours and shapes in the tank. The contents of the tank is a mixture of fish, coral, plants and a mini-sub. This results in a sturdy area for the brick-built fish to dwell. Obviously, well I say obviously, there are no sides to the tank, instead, you construct the frame of it, along with the base. Although the tank is a rather large aspect of the set, much of the detailed build is focused on the content within. In basic terms, the set is a rectangular structure filled with fish and plants. Instead, the actual set sits between the two. I’m not sure what I expected this set to be, a fish tank obviously but for some reason, I pictured a fishbowl or a highly detailed aquarium. Kids can dive into their own underwater adventures with this LEGO® Creator 3in1 Fish Tank (31122) buildable toy. But is that a good or bad thing? Let’s find out and take a closer look at set 31120: Fish Tank. However, imagination can be a terrible thing and the actual set wasn’t what I was expecting. After all, we have recently been treated to some rather cool leftfield sets. When this was first rumoured I was intrigued to see how the set would turn out. Continuing the LEGO® Creator 3-in-1 Summer set reviews it’s time to take a gander at the Creator 3-in-1 Fish Tank set.
